»Desires will break out of homes and put an end to the dominion of boredom and the administration of misery.«

Urban Interventions documents a further development of streetart, urban art and graffiti to a serious, and autonomous art form as well as the increasing interconnection with classical art disciplines.
A primary characteristic is the steering towards location-based contents and messages that “privatize” public space and encourage a dialogue. Personal style and formal aspects take a backseat to the benefit of statements and irritations that become a personal style themselves again.
The works of the 150 artists featured in this book can sometimes not clearly be attributed to their originator and indicate a process from an often ego-based form of expressions towards a contentwise discussion of personal topics in public space. The results are very direct and immediate art works, which would become meaningless if separated from their surroundings. For a gallery often only remains the role of a documentalist, who keeps a record of these ephemeral works.
